Southampton Living Well’s new and innovative way of working is transforming the traditional adult day care centre model. By bringing together local community groups, we offer a wider range of opportunities throughout Southampton for people to enjoy.
In 2018 local charities Social Care in Action and Age UK Southampton came together in partnership to launch an exciting new service called Southampton Living Well. Our aim is to support older people living in Southampton who are frail, elderly or living with Dementia to enjoy life to the fullest. We have taken the traditional adult day care centres across Southampton and transformed them into thriving activity hubs. The new Southampton Living Well service brings a wide range of activities to elderly people and people living with dementia in Southampton.
If you are interested in making new friends, or need some support to continue with a much loved hobby then we can help. Day’s out to local places of interest with support from our Southampton Living Well team mean that the traditional adult day care centre model of visiting just one place each day is a thing of the past. Recent trips have included visits to The Wheelhouse beach hut at Lee on Solent, Stubbington and Royal Victoria Country Park.
Both these trusted and well-known charities share the mission of providing a greater range of activities for older people and helping to improve and maintain people’s health and wellbeing throughout Southampton.
Southampton Living Well is a commissioned service by
Southampton City Council.
